STEP 2 - PAYING FOR COLLEGE

Every year, students and their parents spend countless hours going through the stressful college admissions process called in the hope of being accepted into the “right” college. The excitement of getting in can be diminished by the realization that it is expensive!  The real questions are:

      • How will you pay for college once you get in?

      • How can you maximize your chances of completing college in only four years?

      • How can you maximize the opportunities to get a job in your degree field?

It is nearly impossible to know in advance how much a school will actually cost, or which school to attend, or how to succeed there.  We have broken down the complex, confusing “college process” into easy-to-follow steps to help you: choose the right college, get the best price, and guide you through college to career success.

Students have access to College Complete until June 1 of their Senior Year in High School.

Essays are an important part of the College Application. A well written essay tells the Admissions Office something unique about your student and makes them a stronger applicant. A careless or sloppy essay lessens the likelihood of acceptance. Writing an Essay or Personal Statement for college applications is different than writing a paper for a High School class. We do not write essays for our students but we do provide feedback

Financial planning for the college years is different than any other type of financial planning.  The parent’s dilemma is how to pay for college with out sacrificing their upcoming retirement.   “How old will you be when your youngest child graduates from college?”  We create a personalized financial study for the family starting with “Where am I now? and “Where do I need to be to reach retirement?”

The current financial aid system is based on income, asset and tax information.  Families must be willing to provide personal financial information, including tax returns, income and expenses, investment and retirement statements, trust documents, life insurance, child support and welfare benefits.  Additionally, sole proprietors and corporation owners may be asked to provide information regarding their businesses.

We create an individualized study for each family which may include some or all of the following:

      • Tax Savings and Cash Flow Enhancement
      • Debt Reduction & Debt Management
      • Positioning Income & Assets before, during and after the college years (if appropriate)
      • Tax Efficient Gifting Strategies
      • Determining your Student’s “Tax Capacity”
      • Student Loan Evaluation and Counseling
      • Non-Financial College Savings Strategies
